Sharing Mind Maps - Save to Web

Sharing Mind Maps

Save to Web uploads the active Mind Map to a (configurable) web server. By default this is the SimpleMind web server. On the SimpleMind server each Mind Map is stored in a unique directory. Although this direcory is not password protected and therefore not 100% secure, it is very unlikely anyone can guess the directory name.

After uploading you can either email links to the files associated with the Mind Map or use Safari to access a web page that contains links to these files.

The available file links are:

  • SimpleMind Mind Map (.smm) - this link allows you to share the actual Mind Map with other SimpleMind Touch users. Clicking this link on an iPhone or iPad starts SimpleMind which then downloads a copy of your Mind Map.
  • Mind Map images (.pdf .png) - pdf documents are scalable and best for printing, png
png images can for example be pasted in word processor documents.
  • OPML export (.opml) - a format supported by most desktop mind map tools
  • Freemind export (.mm) - a free and widely used desktop mind mapping tool

Additionally, the Mind Map List "Web" gives you an overview of all your Mind Maps. This index also allows deleting a Mind Map from the server.

Note: Save to Web is only availale in SimpleMind Full Edition.
SimpleMind Free Edition can open Mind Maps uploaded with the Full Edition.
