Yes: you can export your mind maps from SimpleMind Touch eXpress to the full Touch version.
First, make sure you are using at least version 1.0.8. for both the Touch eXpress and Touch Full version. Use the About button (left bottom) on the list screen to check the version number. If you are still using version 1.0.5, then please upgrade first.
In SimpleMind Touch eXpress:
For every mind map you want to transfer to the full version, press the button in the left bottom corner and then use "Export to SimpleMind' to transfer the mind map to the SimpleMind Touch full edition.
No. As a consequence of our strict privacy policy, the SimpleMind server administrator is not allowed to help you restoring links to uploaded Mind Map files.
If you have lost links to your uploaded Mind Map files, you can use the "My Web Folder" command from the SimpleMind Touch About. This gives you an overview of all Mind Maps you previously uploaded. You can recreate links from here.
Alternativly, if you still have the Mind Map on the iPhone / iPod, you can use Save to Web once more to get a fresh set of links.
SimpleMind does not collect email addresses, nor does it collect any other information from you.
When you use the Save to Web command, SimpleMind Touch uploads the Mind Map data and optional image files to the SimpleMind server and nothing else (no email addresses, no user names, nothing else). Because the Mind Map is then stored on the SimpleMind server the SimpleMind administrator could theoretically access your Mind Maps. However it is strict company policy to never do this.
As a consequence, if you have uploaded Mind Maps to the SimpleMind server and have somehow lost the links to the uploaded files, the SimpleMind administrator will not help you restoring these links or Mind Map files.
If you have lost links to uploaded Mind Map files, you should again use Save to Web to get a fresh set of links.
The SimpleMind Touch Save To Web command uploads the Mind Map file to a server. This file allows the Mind Map to be opened by other SimpleMind Touch users. Optionally, the Save To Web command uploads the pdf and/or png version of the Mind Map. This is configured in the SimpleMind Touch application settings. If you never use .png or pdf documents, disabling an image format saves bandwidth (= transmission time and costs). By default the png format is disabled.
If you Saved to the Web with pdf or png disabled, and at a later stage you do need the pdf or png, you simply re-enable to image format and invoke Save To Web again.
Ideally you would have been able to send an email with SimpleMind Touch and attach a Mind Map file to it. However, Apple does not allow third party applications to send emails with attachments from the iPhone/iPod. Therefore the only way to get a Mind Map out of your iPhone or iPod touch is a Camera roll picture (all editions) or by uploading it to a server (SimpleMind Touch paid edition only). Instead of attaching the Mind Map to an email, you mail a link to the uploaded files.
By default SimpleMind Touch uploads Mind Map files to the SimpleMind server. Alternatively SimpleMind Touch can upload to a server of choice. The SimpleMind Touch application settings allow you to enter an alternative server URL. If you define a non-default upload server, this server should be able to accept POSTs for .pdf, .png and .smm files. The server response should be xml format describing the stored actual file URLs. If you are comfortable with setting up a server to do this, please contact by email us for more details.
SimpleMind Touch has a set of predefined visual styles that adjust color scheme, line style and border styles. In the Mind Map editor, use the "Style" button to select a new style. The style (color, border etc.) for a single topic is currently derived from the selected Visual style and cannot be manually adjusted.
Creating, uploading and adding new customized visual styles as well as customizing the appearance of individual topics is under construction.
SimpleMind Desktop has more advanced features to control Topic appearance. When opening Mind Maps created with SimpleMind Destop, SimpleMind Touch on the iPhone will show most of these customizations.
To add a new new branch/topic to a parent topic, first single tap on the parent topic to select it. Then double tap at the position where you want the new branch topic to appear. The keyboard will appear and you can enter the text for the branch topic. If you accidentally added a branch, leave the branch text empty and the branch is automatically deleted again.
To edit the text for an existing topic, double tap on the topic. This invokes the keyboard and allows you to change the text.
Drag (move) the element and drop it inside the new parent element. SimpleMind automatically re-layouts the dropped element and its sub elements.
